Challenge #1 Elizabeth Wickland

Journaling reads: She is a toddler and I am her Mommy.
At 17 months old she imitates everything.
Everything I do and everything I say
is seen by her little blue eyes
and shapes who she becomes.
I am her model of compassion
and faith and patience and love.
I am her example of what is right and wrong.
From me she learns how to speak to those around her
and how to act when things don't go her way
and how to believe in a God who is bigger than all of us.
Who I am shapes who she will become and so I resolve in 2008 to live deliberately.
I resolve to model for my daughter words that are thought through before they are spoken,
actions whose consequences have been weighed before they are done,
and a life that is lived before her on purpose.
The way I live my life shapes the way she will live hers. And so I resolve to live deliberately
because I am the one she imitates.

The journaling reads:
elsa - i need to play outside more
mom - yeah
elsa - that’s my new years resolution... to play outside more
mom - new years resolution?
elsa - and to keep my bedroom clean and to help more
mom - OKAY! GREAT! sounds good to me!
i hope she’s better at keeping resolutions than i am!
this conversation took place while elsa was getting ready to play outside on january 3, 2008
I cut around the negative space of a felt arrow I had die cut. I knew there was a reason I'd saved that scrap!

Resolutionless An awesome layout by Vivian!! Journalling : I've never been one for making New Year's Resolutions. I just cannot see the point behind them. Why bother making a promise to yourself that you might not be able to keep? No sense disappointing yourself. So, until I gain a greater sense of determination and self control, I will always remain resolution - less. December 2007

Supplies : The Dec 07 kit from Sweet Pea Scraps, (LOVE it, BTW!!) & lace from the Nov 07 kit (I think??)

Additional Supplies : Brads : K & Co, Flowers : Prima & Bazzill, Fonts - Lanie Day (title) & Jeana (journalling).

SWEET PEA SCRAPS JANUARY CHALLENGE #3

Recently I have fallen back in love with my sewing machine --- SWOON! It's amazing the dimension, texture, and detail a row of stitching here and there can add to a layout. My challenge to you is to sew on your next layout. Come on! Pull that machine out, dust it off, load it with some thread and show me what you've got! Even if you don't own a sewing machine you can add a few hand stitches here and there, or even try sewing on a few buttons. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I think you'll love the results! JANA

I used papers from the Jan '08 kit and a few embellies from Prima, Amanda Blu, and K & Co.

The journaling reads: Where did the days go when you called me, My Melanie?
The legos are gone and the race car track is back in the box under the bed.
In a second, 6th grade began with new friends and new interests. We rented movies and you wanted to watch them with your friends - not cuddled on the sofa with me! Now, your life is full of high school fun and new girlfriends.
How will I ever learn to let you grow up? I guess, In all this living, you have.......it all went by in a blink of the eye.

JANUARY SWEET PEA SCRAPS CHALLENGE #5 - DOODLE DELIGHT:

Doodling has always been something that has intimidated me. Something about doing something so freehanded and exposed on my own completely freaked me out. However, the playfulness of the January kit inspired me to let loose a little! I'm hoping you'll do the same with this challenge! I want you to try some doodling on your next layout. If you've never doodled before, you may want to "play" with some ideas on a scratch piece of paper first to warm yourself up. If you're still intimidated, like I was, at least try outlining some of your page elements or making a fun border around your focal photo. Have fun with it! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I definitely would not have doodled on this page had it not been for Jana's Challenge! I'm not much of a doodler - but I figured I could manage to draw scallops!
