My daughter Renee created a poster for the Royal Canadian Legion Annual Poster Rememberance Contest back in October 2007. She won 1st prize in our city & the poster went on to the next level to win 4th place there! We are so proud of her! She received 2 certificates and 2 monetary prizes. She worked so hard on her poster that we let her buy herself 2 Webkinz with her prize money, as you can see in the picture. I created this folder to store the letter she received telling her she won, the certificates and the poster. The napkin that we got at my weekly Bible study a few weeks ago was the inspiration for the pocket. When it's empty, it looks like the buttons are floating.
Supplies : April Kit, flower & lace from previous kits, buttons and metal tag from my stash, & Terrifically Tacky Tape (Provocraft) to create the pocket.
I look for inspiration everyone! I look at architecture, advertising, billboards, landscapes, books and magazines... just about everywhere! But today I want you to look at product packaging and labels! Think about the Pepsi logo for instance.... wouldn't that make a great title detail... the circle with the two shaped pieces and your title over the white stripe in the middle? Cool!!
So look around you. Find some inspiration, take a photo of a label or piece of packaging and use it as your inspiration to create something on your page this month!
I was looking through my stash of patterned papers and came across the cover of a paper pack for some K & Company papers and BAM!!! A very cool shaped window was right there on the front cover!!! So I traced the negative image to create a shape to use on my layout.
Now... get out there and find some packaging or label inspiration and share BOTH with us this month!
I tried again. I so liked the idea of a Lo ”all about me”, because i never donet that before. I just got these photos from my mom, and I am one years old on these.
In our family it is tradition to get to a photographers studio and take the babies photos when they are 1 years old. And this is my pictures taken by the age of 1. They where taken in the year of 1963.
The journaling I done in Norwegian this time, but it just explain what I just write.
My memory of this picture from my childhood is always getting a new Easter dress each year and taking a family picture..... I still do both of these two things!
This is me in 1976 (oh so sweet eh? *rolling my eyes*). I don't remember this time, but I do remember that carpet! I loved vacuuming it, because it looked so nice when I was done!! (I still like to vacuum for that reason!) Also, I remember dusting off those shelves. (I still don't like dusting.) The flower was hand sewn by me, inspired by the cover of my baby photo album (picture #2). The pictures from that time are never 4x6, so that counts for challenge #3 right??
Made with the April '08 kit, plus other goodies from previous kits. Stamps - Gelatins, Label holder & brads from my stash, Font - Georgia.
Dig deep....dig dig dig into your picture pile and find a good memory of you...from your childhood. If you can't find an actual picture but have a memory....take a picture of something that sparks that memory.
Sometimes it takes forever to get a nice picture of Renee - here's the proof in the pictures!!
I challenge you to jump out of your creative comfort zone and change it up… try these sizes 2x2, 3x3, 2x5, 3x5, etc etc etc… the options are endless.
Jana's Cut It Out Challenge
A lot of times patterned papers are just too pretty to cover up with photos and journal blocks! When I fall in love with a design in a sheet of paper, instead of covering it up, I cut it up! For this challenge I want you to cut something out of your patterned paper and use it as an embellishment on your page. Have fun with this one! I can't wait to see your entries!
This LO has one of the few pictures I have of my Grandmother. We grew up with her living in the house next to us - the houses literally shared a basement! She passed away when I was expecting my oldest daughter. I miss her very much & regret that my kids didn't get to meet her.
This week your challenge is to layer, layer, layer! Those of you who frequent the gallery know that is one thing that I do. I LOVE the look I get when I layer my patterned papers....how it looks with a little strip here or a block of pattern there. So go ahead...grab those different patters and throw them all together.
Melanie used inspiration from a scraplift challenge for this layout...
This next project isn't a LO at all, but is a memo board that I created for the BOS Challenge this week on 2 Peas. It's on a 12x12 canvas
